Massage
Our signature massage is the Japanese technique called "shiatsu." It uses finger pressure on vital points to ease tension and and the physical symptoms of hectic lifestyles. The term "shiatsu" is a blend of two Japanese words: "shi," which means fingers, and "atsu," for pressure. The technique has much in common with acupuncture, although therapists do not use needles during treatments.
We combine this therapy with Swedish massage, the most common form of muscle and body massage. It focuses on rubbing, kneading and toning the body.
Our certified massage therapists are professionals trained initially in Swedish technique. Naoko advanced their knowledge with the shiatsu method, teaching them how to better work the body's pressure points.
At Naoko Esthetics, we invite guests taking massages lasting an hour or more to begin their treatment by lounging in our steam rooms for about 30 minutes to loosen up muscles. The steam bath prepares him or her to fully absorb the relaxing benefits of our massage.
A "hot stone" massage also is available for deep muscle treatment. During the massage, therapists place special stones warmed in water at important energy points on the body.
Naoko's newest massage is craniosacral therapy, which focuses on the head, the membranes of the spine and the central nervous system. This gentle touch treatment can assist the flow of cerebrospinal fluid to help release tension and to carry nutrients to tissues, among other effects. At the same time, we also can include "chakra balancing," a holistic technique to benefit the body's centers of activity that absorb and express life force energy. Important chakra are associated with midline of the body from the head to the base of the spine.
